When researching the background to the pretty Arts and Crafts house in the Surrey Hills that I shot for The English Home magazine, I was surprised to discover that its architect, Edward Mountford, was also responsible for great works of Edwardian baroque such as the Old Bailey, and Sheffield Town Hall, as well as churches and public buildings in gothic and various other styles.
The building has been substantially but sympathetically extended by the current owners, with new interiors by a former Ralph Lauren designer, Maurizio Pellizzoni.
