I’m not normally a fan of new classical buildings. So often they are poorly detailed and the proportions are all wrong. Besides, I’d much rather see good modern architecture which is of its time rather than something which pointlessly mimics the past. So I was very pleasantly surprised by this home in Wiltshire which I shot for The English Home last year. Only completed a decade ago, it had an air of authenticity about it. Well proportioned and laid out on an axis from front door to back door and down the garden path beyond, it was detailed and finished beautifully. The way the spaces connected was a particular joy to shoot.
