One of the last design jobs I completed in my former career, was dressing a show flat in a new development. That was over ten years ago, and today a whole industry has grown up around the presentation and marketing of high end property. Some design firms have been set up purely to style show flats, doing nothing else, while plenty of companies exist to supply props and furnishings to such developments, on a hire basis.
While some may churn out identikit schemes, at Rachel Winham, each project is bespoke, thoroughly detailed, and beautifully finished. Their schemes are not just about styling and soft furnishing. Exquisite joinery, subtle lighting, commissioned art, and fabrics in rich layers, all contribute to a sense of relaxed luxury.
Over the last couple of years, I’ve shot several of their projects including an impressive penthouse overlooking the Kings Road, and an apartment in the elegant Belgravia enclave of Ebury Square.
Just before Christmas I shot two of their latest projects, back to back: one an impressive duplex, a stone’s throw from Westminster Abbey, the other an apartment with stunning views in the recently refurbished and upwardly extended, Southbank Tower.
