Within sight of the bridges linking England and Wales, lies St Augustine’s vineyard. The bleak but beautiful landscape of the Severn estuary, makes its presence particularly surprising. The regimented vines form an unusual garden setting for owners, Adam and Laura Hall’s mellow stone parsonage, giving it the air of a small chateau.
In addition to their working vineyard, Laura and Adam also take in paying guests in the adjacent coach house. Beautifully kitted out by Laura, a former Vogue writer and stylist, the coach house is a fully self catering and self contained little retreat. Its setting just outside Bristol, on the doorstep of the Cotswolds, and with Wales just across the bridges, make it perfect for a short break exploring city and country alike, and perhaps trying the extremely good and extremely local white wine.
